Episode 103: Habit Back - Whypower
One of the top mistakes people make when trying to change habits is using willpower. And in case you haven't noticed, willpower is unreliable and not available when you need it the most. Willpower only works when our energy is high and we're well-resourced. In this episode you'll learn how to use whypower, a more effective alternative. Here are the 4 steps to using whypower:
Interrupt the old habit/pattern
Use emotional/nervous system regulation to neutralize the emotion
Connect with your desire to change. See yourself having already made the changes and experience the desired results of your new habit. Feel the positive emotions associated with the vision of your future self.
Take action aligned with your future self. Find a more positive alternative that addresses the deeper need of the old habit.
